LeCAD at the VDI Plastic Gears Wissensforum Conference

Last week, our laboratory members Aleš Durjava, Nikola Vukašinović, and Bor Mojškerc attended the VDI Wissensforum GmbH conference – one of Europe’s leading events bringing together researchers and industry experts in the fields of engineering and knowledge transfer.

At the conference, they presented an original approach to gear wear analysis based on the characterization of wear particles. The developed method, which we implement using computer vision, enables reliable capture and classification of thousands of particles according to their morphology. This allows for better insights into wear patterns and mechanisms, significantly contributing to a deeper understanding of the process and the design of more durable composite gears ⚙️.

The results achieved motivate us to continue developing innovative solutions in close collaboration with industry – with the goal of improving products, optimizing processes, and promoting sustainable development.
